I borrowed this from Heather's blog (Thanks!).
God's Message
On the street I saw a small girl cold and shivering in a thin dress, with little hope of a decent meal. I became angry and said to God: "Why did you permit this? Why don't you do something about this? For a while God said nothing, then he replied: "I certainly did something....I made you."

Quilt
“Good Wishes Quilt”
As many of you know, Larry and I are hoping to adopt a baby. While we're waiting for munchkin to come home, we will be putting together this project. We want to create a "Good Wishes Quilt.” It is a custom (not a Mexican one :)) to invite people to contribute a square patch of cloth. The patches are sewn together into a quilt that contains the luck, energy, and good wishes from all the family and friends who contributed a piece of fabric. We love the idea as a way for munchkin to know how much he/she is wanted and loved by friends and family.
HERE IS WHAT I WOULD LIKE YOU TO DO:
1. Choose any 100% cotton fabric or flannel that you like. (something that represents your likes, for example I, of course, would choose a fabric with monkeys; it can also be a fabric that catches your eye, anything goes)
2. Cut one (1) 10"x 10” square from the fabric.
3. On a piece of paper or cardstock put a small piece of the fabric and include your "good wish note." Please remember to sign your wish and include your relation to munchkin or to munchkins mommy and daddy, city and date.
The fabric will be used to make a quilt, and the notes will be placed in a “good wish” scrapbook, for when munchkin is older. When munchkin is older we will be able to match the pieces of fabric on the quilt to the good wish send with it.
IDEAS FOR GOOD WISHES NOTE: Your wish can be simple or elaborate. Some ideas are good happiness, health, perseverance, compassion, love, or a poem. You get the picture.
Thank you so much for helping us make this very special keepsake for munchkin. If any of my "blogger friends" want to send a square & good wish just let me know and I will send you my address
Oh yeah for any of you still reading this, we would like to have the quilt made before munchkin goes of to college so get your pieces in :) lol
I will post some examples soon.

Munchkins Room...Finally finished

Munchkins room is finally finished. He/she has a full bookcase of books, some toys, and other cool stuff. Sometimes I go in there and just sit in the rocking chair and dream about the day that I will be rocking him/her there. I really like the way the room came out cant wait to actually use it.

Our 1st Trip
Okay so my sister (who is still trying to figure out why I am writing on the internet lol) thinks its a good idea that I post about out 1st trip to Mexico.

In May, Larry and I went to Chihuahua, Mex to get more info into the adoption process. We met with a nice lady at the DIF and got our questions answered. My mom, my sister, 2 of my nephews, Larry and I hope on 'a limosina' (a bus) to make the 4 hour ride. Larry had never been so it was a suprise to him. lol We stopped in Villahumada for some quesadillas (with some yummy asadero) and burritos and coke in glass bottles. lol Overall it was a good trip and we can wait when our next trip we bring munchkin home.

A Ray of Hope
So today we got a ray of hope. The DIF (Mexican social service) placed 40 kids with adoption parents last month. That is an awesome number and we hope that means they will soon get to us.
Also the translating of our paperwork is done! yippe
ps. Since we want munchkin to be bilingual, I will be writing some of the posts in spanish.

Random Thought
Heres a realization I had just a short time ago. If we are hoping to get munchkin before the end of the year, munchkin has already been conceived. Is it a he or a she? Dark? Fair? Big? Small? This is my random thought for the day.

Munchkin's Room
Here's a couple pictures of the
munchkins room. Its done in a Winnie the Pooh theme. We dont have furniture yet we will soon. I just want to have it done because we don't know when he/she is coming home yet.
I leave you one of my favorite quotes:
KISSES IN THE WIND
I hold you in my heart and touch you in my dreams.
You are here each day with me, at least that's how it seems.
I know you wonder where we are... what's taking us so long.
But remember child, I love you so and God will keep you strong.
Now go outside and feel the breeze and let it touch your skin...
Because tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.
May God hold you in His hand until I can be with you.
I promise you, my darling, I'm doing all that I can do.
Very soon, you'll have a family for real, not just pretend.
But for tonight, just as always, I blow you kisses in the wind.
May God wrap you in His arms and hold you very tight.
And let the angels bring the kisses that I send to you each night.

Reflections...
Ever think back about how your life would have been if certain events had been different in your past. Sometimes I think that if I had just been like everyone else around me in high school and gotten pregnant at 16 I would already have my baby. Or what if I had a slip up in college. But then I realize that my life would be different and I wouldnt be where I am now. I realize that then the baby wouldnt be L's. I probably would have never left El Paso. So eventhough my heart aches while waiting for the munchkin, I wouldnt want to wait with anyone other than L. I wouldnt change all the bumps in the road that led me to where I am now. I love my life and my husband. If you are a country fan and have heard "God Bless the Broken Road" by Rascal Flatts, thats my song. Okay enough reflection, I need to work.

Where we are
Ok so to start off I will let you all know where we are in the process. As we speak, a very nice notary public is translating our mountain of paperwork. It all has to be translated to spanish (and before you ask it had to be done by a certified translator, which I am not). Hopefully that will be done this week and can be forward to the DIF in Mexico. You may or may not know that adopting from Mexico is extremely hard. So we hope that God will work in our favor. So thats the Mexican side.
On the US side, we are waiting for INS to give us a favorable decision. We go get our fingerprints taken at the end of the month. Its a lenghty process and it tests my patience but not much I can do about it.
On the home front, we are preparing munchkin's room. We (okay maybe more like I) am super OCD about that room. I want it to be done just in case they call us sooner than later (my hopes are sometimes too high). L and I cant decide what furniture we want so thats holding up the process. I'll try posting some pictures later.
Well enough for today. Feel free to leave comments (as long as you are nice about it lol).
Intro
So I have been wanting to start this blog for a long time. I am not much of a writer so we will see how far I get. For those of you that havent heard yet, L and I are hoping to adopt a munchkin from Mexico. This blog will be for those who want to keep up with our journey (it might eliminate some of the "when are you getting the baby" questions lol j/k) as well as those who dont have anything to do but surf the web :). We are very fortunate that our families are completely on board with this decision and all are waiting anxiously. We look forward to the day we can announce the arrival of the munchkin.
